New Texas Blue Warrant Bond Law

On September 1, 2015 a new law went into effect that would allow certain Parole Violation Offenders to secure a bond even though they are picked up on a “Blue Warrant.”

A person may not get a Blue Warrant Bond if the Parolee picks up:

* A New Felony

* A Title 5 Offense such as Criminal Homicide, Kidnapping, Unlawful Restraint, Smuggling of Persons, Trafficking of Persons, Sexual Offenses, Assaultive Offenses

* DWI

* Family Violence

Additionally, the Parolee is NOT eligible if previously convicted of:

* Robbery

* A Title 5 Offense such as Criminal Homicide, Kidnapping, Unlawful Restraint, Smuggling of Persons, Trafficking of Persons, Sexual Offenses, Assaultive Offenses

Who would be eligible?

* Misdemeanor Theft

* Misdemeanor Marijuana Possession

* Misdemeanor Drug Possession
